At last month’s meeting we were taken on a trip down memory lane with Chris Walker guiding us through the Great American Songbook. Chris played us clips of some of the great singers and composers of the era as well as providing some rare film footage of the legendary Satchmo (Louis Armstrong) and Nat King Cole. It was a reminder of some of the great talents from our past and the benchmarks that they set for future generations within the film and music industry. The meeting was a gentle and relaxed affair enhanced with the exceptionally good food and wine that we enjoyed on the day. Several members made the point of mentioning the food to me, and as we had Luke Matthews the hotel’s Executive Head Chef with us, it was nice to be able to pass on their accolades directly to him. I am hoping to be able to persuade Luke to join us again in the near future to give a talk about how he manages the kitchen and co-ordinates the many staff and menus that he does on a daily basis.
June’s luncheon meeting allows a great opportunity for members to invite guests along to our annual sports morning. Stuart will have already sent you details of the timings and costs involved for those wishing to participate in a game of Golf or Croquet. Both sports can be played by novices and experts alike. They are usually conducted in a good humoured manner with witty banter cutting through the competitiveness of the day. It really is a super chance to bond with new clients, or reward your regular ones. If you are not of a sporting nature then don’t worry as the atmosphere normally extends to our meeting at which the prizes for best and worst are handed out.
We are hoping to have a surprise sporting Guest speaker for the meeting this month and so no details can be given at this moment in time. There will be the usual networking period before lunch at our drinks reception and whether you are attending the sports morning or not I look forward to seeing you there and welcoming your guests.
