Cress To Impress This March

In February we were entertained by Jimmy Cregan from Jimmy’s Iced Coffee.

His talk covered his life as half-mermaid (working with Red Bull at festivals), and half-labourer in Bournemouth, before he struck ‘idea gold’ Down Under when he tasted iced coffee for the first time.

From that refreshing moment, it was full steam ahead to producing a great product and building a company with the right attitude.

As you can see below he is game for anything and is pictured with our Chair Angie Beeston (photo by Deep South Media).

The food theme continues in March, and on Friday 20th we’ll be learning more about Hampshire cress production and supplying supermarkets with Mike Sheldon.

Our Guest Speaker in March is Mike Sheldon

Our guest speaker is Mike Sheldon, Managing Director of Vitacress Salads Ltd, who will share with us the wonder of watercress.

Talk Title: Watercress – Hampshire based Growers Vitacress putting this product back on our food map!

Mike has over 25 years in the dairy industry and then 18 months ago he joined a much healthier industry when he took on the role of MD of the Vitacress Salads business based near Andover, Hampshire.

He has a wealth of experience from business restructuring through e-commerce home delivery to purchasing, across multiple sectors including retail, ingredients, and foodservice.

Watercress is steeped in history, a quintessentially British crop, once widely consumed, which has significant nutritional benefits but it has lost popularity over the years: Mike intends to put watercress back on our map and improve awareness of this amazing product.

In his spare time Mike is a keen sportsman although he watches more than he plays these days..!
