Our guest this May has an amazing story and it begins in 1993 when at the age of 2 she had a heart transplant.
Since then Lucy Ryan has been a medical miracle and in 2016 won three medals at the British Transplant Games. This included gold in the 3k walk, silver in archery and bronze in the ball throw during the competition.
Lucy is also campaigning for a change to the way organ donation is handled in the UK. Her suggestion is the Soft Opt-Out system which would mean would everyone automatically becomes an organ donor as an adult unless they decide to “opt-out”. Lucy’s suggestion has caused controversy so she will be kindly telling us how she reached this conclusion.
